Typhoon Bavi Forces Mass Evacuations in Eastern China

A big storm called Typhoon Bavi hit eastern China on July 12, 2026. The storm came from the Pacific Ocean and reached the city of Taizhou on Saturday evening. It hit the coast two times.

More than 1.7 million people left their homes to stay safe. The government closed schools and stopped work. Many flights and trains were cancelled.

The storm brought heavy rain and strong winds. People heard roof tiles and tree branches falling. One car was pushed over by the wind. The government wanted to keep people safe from the dangerous weather.
