Yu Zidi Wins Asian Games Butterfly at 13

Yu Zidi is 13 years old. On September 20, she won the women's 200-metre butterfly at the Asian Games in Japan. The Chinese swimmer finished in 2 minutes 5.08 seconds. It was a Games record.

Yu led the race from start to finish at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. The old record was 2:05.57, held by Chinese swimmer Zhang Yufei. Yu was 0.49 seconds faster.

After the race, Yu did not say everything was perfect. She said her technique needs work. She wants to lower her head earlier, reach farther and improve her leg movement. A record is a big win, but she is still learning.
