Restaurant Owner Faces Jail for Using Ants

A restaurant owner in South Korea is in big trouble. The restaurant has two Michelin stars. This means it is very famous and special.

The owner used ants on desserts. The ants were on top of sorbet. But ants are not allowed in food in South Korea. Only some insects like grasshoppers are allowed. The restaurant used 49,000 ants over four years.

The owner might go to jail for one year. The restaurant might pay a big fine too. The owner said diners could choose other toppings instead of ants. The court will decide on September 2, 2026.
