Shell's second-quarter profits more than doubled to $9.84 billion as oil prices surged due to Middle East disruptions.
Shell is a big oil and gas company. In the second quarter of 2026, Shell made $9.84 billion. This is much more than last year. In 2025, the company made only $4.26 billion in the same quarter.
Why did Shell make more money? Oil prices went up. There were problems in the Middle East. Ships could not move oil easily. Before the problems, oil cost about $73 for one barrel. Then it went up to more than $120. Later, it went down to less than $100.
